HOW ARE YOU INVESTING IN YOUR GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT?

It is almost five years since I founded The Lonely Leader. In those years I have seen the rationale for branding the business The Lonely Leader validated on an almost daily basis. 

In my experience too many leaders operate in isolation. They are fearful of exposing any sign of a skills gap either to their superiors or their staff. In addition they fear displaying any form of vulnerability.


They labour under the delusion that as a leader they should be able to draw on limitless resilience and energy and should have the answers and strategy for every challenge they face!


As a consequence they internalise pressure and manifest a lonely professional existence. Performance invariably starts to slip and in the worst case physical and, or mental health can suffer with some form of burnout.


Running alongside these challenges many leaders are so externally focussed (from a very noble perspective) on the needs of their staff, customers and stakeholders that they neglect their own needs. They fail to find the time and / or the budget to invest in their own growth and development further compounding the loneliness and isolation of leadership.


Does any of this sound familiar? Do not beat yourself up if it does. Please read on! For a period I walked this path during my tenure as a CEO.


The more I spoke with senior high performing leaders the more common I realised it was. Outwardly they were performing but beneath the surface they were struggling.This was the catalyst for creating a business focussed on training, mentoring and coaching. 

I aspire to bring authenticity to everything we create drawing on my own personal leadership journey and accelerating the learning of existing and aspiring leaders. 

What has been transformational to my work is accessing the wisdom from the clients we have worked with. This has helped us create a knowledge library of the tools and habits being employed in a diverse range of sectors and countries to create best practice. 

Equally we have been able to identify and reveal the habits and strategies that have not worked. 


These insights have enriched our work and have enabled us to continually improve our core programmes of The Leadership Accelerator, Creating Unshakeable Resilience and Leadership Essentials. 


My mission is simple, I want to help people. I often talk about the Three M´s. MINDSET, METHOD and MOMENTUM. 


Our work is designed to help empower your mindset, share the tools and tactics (methodology) proven to facilitate sustainable high performance and build an unstoppable momentum in your career. 


Leadership should not be lonely and I derive an enormous sense of fulfilment from the mentoring and coaching I am engaged in. If you would like to explore how our range of group programmes or one to one work can support you then please do DM me.

That being said I appreciate that not everybody has the resource to access one to one coaching and mentoring. However, that should not be the end of your growth and development journey!


It has always been a core principle at The Lonely Leader to share free content that aligns with the Three M´s on a daily basis. 


However in the world of algorithms I am repeatedly told that content on average reaches just 10% of your network which feels extremely underwhelming. 


To help reach a wider group more consistently I wanted to make you aware of two key channels we are investing a lot of time and energy developing. 


The first is our email newsletter also called The Leadership Accelerator. It is hosted by Kajabi and sent out weekly. We do not share your details with any third parties and it has really helped us grow our community.

The second is The Lonely Leader Podcast. As with any host this provides you with a chance to get a feel for my philosophies and content at a time and place that suits you. 

Even if resource is available to invest in your growth I appreciate that often people do not want to book onto a discovery call for fear of facing some form of hard sell. 


Whilst that is certainly not our style the podcast gives you a pressure free environment to sense check the content and see if it resonates.
