Some of history's most notable figures recognised the power of using a journal.
Oscar Wilde, Benjamin Franklin, Queen Victoria, Ludwig Von Beethoven, Napoleon, Charles Darwin, Mark Twain, Winston Churchill, Marcus Aurelius. The list rolls on.
I am particularly drawn to a quote from Emperor Marcus Aurelius as I believe it encapsulates a power in journalling he recognised 2000 years ago that remains as relevant today.
“People look for retreats for themselves in the country, by the coast, or in the hills. There is nowhere that a person can find a more peaceful and trouble free retreat than in his own mind. So constantly give yourself this retreat and renew yourself.”
For many years journalling is a process I confess to have merely dabbled in. However in recent times I have committed to making it a key part of my daily routines and the slides show the key benefits I have gained as a consequence.
